This track was to be only an experiment with my new computer and newly released Logic 8 – new, back then! I had just returned to London after holidays in Brazil and was much into Caetano Veloso as well as Manu Chao and this kind of world-ish music style. The track was recorded mainly in one day, but the “experiment” came along so interestingly that I polished it with a few overdubs later – acoustic and electric guitar, some synths and sound effects.
The lyrics work in a sort of loop, inspired in the concretist poetry and music of Caetano Veloso – like “Julia-Moreno” or “Porquê?”. It doesn’t develop in a narrative, but instead they explore the many points of view of one event (or thing), namely “migrating”. Certainly this had a lot to do with my own condition as an immigrant in a totally diverse culture.
All of it was done by me and myself alone: composition, lyrics, singing, playing, mixing.. and stuff.. all from my little flat in Streatham Hill, South London.
Enjoy..
